Truth and consequences
In our world many inhabitants bob on the sea of life, going where events take them, their daily activity driven by habit and repetition, doing what everyone else seems to be doing.
The same is true of some organizations. They are reactive and captive, less directed by their own action than pushed by external events, copying other organizations rather than setting their own path.
'Tis a shame, because through strategic thinking and action life can be so much better.
Strategic thinking starts with truth telling, recognition of the real underlying situation. Only by owning up to the realities in and surrounding and driving the organization can the keys to improvement and positive change be found.
Only by truth telling can the consequences of inaction and or unthoughtful action be seen.
Only by truth telling can a better way with better consequences be identified.
It's the job of the leaders of an organization to be truth tellers, reality-based thinkers who are looking ahead to see what's unfolding and around to find the better path. Not accepting this role can only have bad consequences for the organization.
So, for greater success, tell the truth!
